J.C. Thompson Trailblazer families,
I am deeply saddened to write to you today to share news of the passing of Dr. Leigh Anne Romer, J.C. Thompson Elementary School’s principal. Dr. Romer passed away following a sudden medical emergency on Sunday, and she leaves behind a loving family and school community who will miss her immensely.
I speak on behalf of all Northwest ISD’s leadership team when I say Dr. Romer will forever be remembered as someone who cared about her students, teachers and community with her whole heart. JCT’s monikers – “the place to be” and “the best school in the universe” – are known not just among your school community, but among all our campus leaders. Dr. Romer took pride in fostering an environment where all students knew they were going to be valued and cared for, and every day at JCT is an amazing day thanks to the culture she established in her 12 years as principal.
While this news comes at a time when school is out, please know that we will have counselors available in the coming days for students who may need assistance processing their emotions or simply need someone to talk to. I would encourage you to share news of Dr. Romer’s passing with your child in the manner you believe best.
Please know how much we all love Dr. Romer and are heartbroken by her passing. Most importantly, please keep the Romer family in your thoughts and prayers. Dr. Romer is survived by her loving husband, Paul, as well as their two children, Sofia and Patch.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Foust, Superintendent of Schools
Northwest ISD
